The course is designed to cover specifications and sets out recommendations referenced in Australian Standards and identifies the need to carry out equipment safety inspections on industrial safety systems and devices. This in turn enables the safety systems and devices to meet legislative requirements and maintain a safe working environment.
The target group is any person who conducts inspections of completed or partly completed products produced by others. Inspection is carried out according to a site quality plan or specifications; it applies to a range of manufacturing enterprises; and requires application of a range of measuring equipment/devices/tools.
- Reading, interpreting and following information on written job instructions, standard operating procedures and other applicable reference documents
- Testing products for conformance to specifications in accordance with job instructions
- Testing reworked/repaired products for conformance to specification, in accordance with job instructions
- Entering routine and familiar information onto performa’s and standard workplace forms
Unit of Competency
MEM15004B Perform inspection
Assessment for this unit of competency will be by simulation of work place practices. Assessment will occur over a range of situations. Assessment will be conducted through actual demonstration of competencies and written and oral testing of underpinning knowledge.
Training will be delivered utilising theory and practical activities. Simulation will be based on actual conditions and will include walk throughs of the relevant competency components. Delivery will include trainer led presentations / scenarios.
