Steps to Enrol

To commence studies in a Work Health and Safety Qualification course:

  • Download and read the Pre-Enrolment Handbook
  • Click and completed the on-line enrolment form for the following courses:

Certificate IV in Work Health &Safety BSB41415

Diploma of Work Health & Safety BSB51315

Learners must have access to the following in order to complete their studies:

  • Personal Computer, with Internet Explorer 9 or Google Chrome.  If you have IE 10 or 11 you may experience issues with the student portal
  • Microsoft Office with Word, Excel, PowerPoint programs.
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader
  • Email

Learners are required to submit their assessment responses via the student portal using an appropriate software program, for example, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint.

1. Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety BSB41415

This course in designed to give learners practical knowledge and skills to enable the provision of valid and timely WHS advice and assist with improving safety in the workplace. Individuals are either in a WHS role, or wanting to secure a WHS role, working under limited supervision and may provide leadership and guidance to other relating to WHS matters.

The course covers a broad range of health and safety functions and responsibilities in the workplace including:

  • Identifying hazards
  • Assessing WHS risks
  • Implementing strategies to control WHS risks
  • Evaluating an organisation's performance.

Who Should Attend?

  • Safety officers, safety supervisors and managers, safety advisors, supervisors.

Learning Outcomes

The Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety provides learners with the knowledge and skills to:

  • Implement and support the workplace WHS management system
  • Prepare and advise workplace personnel for dealing with WHS issues
  • Understand WHS legislative requirements and assist with monitoring workplace compliance
  • Implement WHS initiatives and processes that support organisational WHS goals
  • Apply knowledge of risk assessment to contribute to the selection of risk-assessment techniques, tools and processes for common hazards and
  • Contribute to setting up and running of WHS consultation and participation processes.

Units of Competency

Award

  • Upon successful completion of the qualification requirements, learners will be awarded the Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety BSB41415.

There are two payment options for Distance Education:

  1. One single payment of $1550 if course fee payment made in full.

2. Certificate IV in OHS to Certificate IV in WHS Bridging Course BSB41415

This course is designed for individuals who currently hold a Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety (BSB41407) and now want to obtain a Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (BSB41415).

Who Should Attend?

  • Safety officers, safety supervisors and managers, safety advisors, supervisors, health and safety representatives and workers that have WHS responsibilities.

Prerequisites

Learners must hold a BSB41407 Certificate IV in OHS in order to be eligible to undertake this bridging course.

Learning Outcomes

The Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (BSB41415) provides learners with the knowledge and skills to:

  • Implement and support the workplace WHS management system
  • Prepare and advise workplace personnel for dealing with WHS issues
  • Understand WHS legislative requirements and assist with monitoring workplace compliance
  • Implement WHS initiatives and processes that support organisational WHS goals
  • Apply knowledge of risk assessment to contribute to the selection of risk-assessment techniques, tools and proceses for common hazards
  • Contribute to setting up and running of WHS consultation and participant processes.

3. Diploma of Work Health & Safety BSB51315

This course is designed for learners who coordinate and maintain the work health and safety (WHS) program/system within an organisation. It will provide learners with the opportunity to grow their practical knowledge and skills in the development, implementation and management of these programs/systems.

Who should attend

  • Safety practitioners and managers with WHS responsibilities.

Prerequisites

To be eligible to enrol in to the Diploma of WHS, learners must hold a Qualification/ Statement of Attainment with the 5 core units from the Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety BSB41415, being:

  • BSBWHS402 - Assist with compliance with WHS law
  • BSBWHS403 - Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of a WHS consultation and participation process
  • BSBWHS405 - Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of a WHS management system
  • BSBWHS404 - Contribute to the WHS hazard identification, risk assessment and risk control activities
  • BSBWHS406 - Assist with responding to incidents.

Learning outcomes

The Diploma of Work Health and Safety provides learners with the knowledge and skills to:

  • Recognise, evaluate and manage health and safety hazards in the workplace
  • Administer various work health and safety functions, planning and policy and process development in the workplace
  • Communicate effectively with personnel at all levels of the organisation
  • Developing actions, interventions and measures to prevent re-occurrences of incidents
  • Achieving change in WHS matters
  • Gather and analyse relevant WHS information and data
  • Contribute to the implementation, review and improvement of the WHS plan and WHS management system

Units of competency

Award

  • Upon successful completion of the qualification requirements, learners will be awarded the Diploma of Work Health and Safety BSB51315.

Price

4. Diploma of OHS to Diploma of WHS Bridging Course BSB51315

This course is designed for individuals who currently hold a Diploma of Occupational Health and Safety (BSB51307) and now want to obtain a Diploma of Work Health and Safety (BSB51315).

Who should attend?

  • Safety practitioners and managers with WHS responsibilities.

Prerequisites

To be eligible to enrol in to the Diploma of WHS Bridging course, learners must hold a the BSB50317 Diploma of OHS and a Qualification/ Statement of Attainment with the 5 core units from the Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety BSB41415, being:

  • BSBWHS402 - Assist with compliance with WHS law
  • BSBWHS403 - Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of a WHS consultation and participation process
  • BSBWHS405 - Contribute to the implementation and maintenance of a WHS management system
  • BSBWHS404 - Contribute to the WHS hazard identification, risk assessment and risk control activities
  • BSBWHS406 - Assist with responding to incidents.

Learning outcomes

The Diploma of Work Health and Safety provides learners with the knowledge and skills to:

5. WHS Statement of Attainment

This course is designed to allow participants to meet the entry requirements and progress on to the Diploma of Work Health and Safety. Participants are either in a WHS role, or wanting to secure a WHS role, or wanting to meet the entry requirements in order to progress on to the Diploma of Work Health and Safety.
 

Who should attend?

Safety officers, safety supervisors and managers, safety advisors, supervisors, specifically those who want to obtain the Diploma of Work Health and Safety, but do not already hold the entry requirements.

Learning Outcomes

The WHS Statement of Attainment provides participants with the knowledge and skills to:

  •     Understand WHS legislative requirements and assist with monitoring workplace compliance
  •     Contribute to setting up and running of WHS consultation and participation processes.
  •     Apply knowledge of risk assessment to contribute to the selection of risk-assessment techniques, tools and processes for common hazards and
  •     Implement and support the workplace WHS management system
  •     Assist with actions and activities performed in response to work health and safety (WHS) incidents which includes accidents.
     

Units of Competency

Award

  • Upon successful completion of the course requirements, learners will be awarded with a Statement of Attainment.
