This nationally recognised course describes the skills and knowledge required to recognise and respond to life-threatening emergencies in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines. This unit applies to all workers who may be required to provide an emergency response in a range of situations, include community and workplace settings. There are legislated requirements in each state in relation to this training. These requirements will be documented in each states approved code of practice for first aid.

Language, literacy and numeracy requirements

Description:
This unit deals with the skills and knowledge required to recognise and respond to life-threatening emergencies in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines and applies to all workers who may be required to provide an emergency response in a range of situations, include community and workplace settings.

Content:

  • Respond to an emergency situation
  • Apply appropriate first aid procedures
  • Perform CPR procedures
  • Communicate details of the incident

Units of Competency

HLTAID002 Provide basic emergency life support

HLTAID001 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

Assessment:
Assessment is conducted by using a range of scenarios and orally / written questions.

Delivery Method:
Delivery of training is done face to face and may be done on a customer’s site or in a Blackwoods Training centre.
